Setting Up VPN on Windows 2000 & XP
Windows 2000 PPTP VPN
Lets start with Windows 2000 PPTP followed by XP PPTP & L2TP instructions:
STEP 1
Double-click on "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Then click on "Control Panel."

Once your control panel is open, double–click on “Network and Dial–Up Connections".

Step 3
Double–click on ‘Make New Connection’. The “Network Connection Wizard” screen will appear. Click the "Next"

From the options, select "Connect to a private network through the Internet" and click the "Next"

Step 5
You will be asked for a server IP Address. Refer to the Welcome email. Enter the IP and press "Next"

You are asked to set user access. Select "for all users" and click next to continue

You will be asked to "Name the Connection" Name it anything you want and press on "Finish"

Connecting to the VPN: Double click on the connection you created, found in "Network and Dial–Up Connections folder"

Windows XP PPTP VPN & L2TP VPN
STEP 1
Open "Networks connection folder" Located in Start->Control Panel.

Click on the 'Create a new connection' in the Network Tasks task (top left corner)

The Connection wizard will load. Click next and then "Connect to the network at my workplace" as shown in images

STEP 4
Now select "Virtual Private Network" connection, and click 'Next'

When asked for "company name" type "VpnAccounts.com" or anything you like and click the 'Next' button.

On the following stage select the option to 'Do not dial the initial connection' and click the 'Next' button

STEP 7
Enter the Server IP Address provided to you in the welcome email.

Select the 'Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop' check box and click 'Finish'.

STEP 9 --- PPTP VPN READY
On your desktop 'double click' on the connection shortcut you created in step 8

STEP 10 --- Continue to set up L2TP IPsec VPN
In the VPN properties, click on Options. Uncheck the 'Include Windows logon domain' and click the 'Networking' tab.

STEP 11
Under the "Networking" tab, change the 'Type of VPN' from 'Automatic' to 'L2TP IPsec VPN'.

Now click "Security" tab, It should look the same as the image. Now click the 'IPsec Setttings...' button

Everything is ready. Double click on the connection on your desktop and enter user data
